Dalet is excited to present the November 2020 release of Dalet Flex 2020.11.0.
This release of Dalet Flex provides new features, quality and security enhancements, bug fixes, and other changes.
Flex 2020.11 is an interim release track, allowing customers to make use of the latest functionality and bug fixes in Flex before the next LTS (Long Term Supported) release track becomes available.
As an interim release track, it should be noted that this release:
It is now possible now to update metadata on published videos using a HTTP Message Action.
The new plugin parameter accepts identification to use JW Player API and API Secret stored in Flex secrets in order to post HTTP messages directly to JWPlayer and update the properties of a video (see https://developer.jwplayer.com for more information).
The new Image Transcode (FSP) plugin uses Flex Stream Processor to transcode images. This plugin can be used to transcode images and create proxy images. Paired with the deprecated "Create Proxy" plugin it supports a new "Background Color" configuration as well as "Color Mode" option with CMYK color-space support.
The optional Flex BlackPearl Service is now available.
If deployed, this services exposes three new actions: RioBroker Archive, RioBroker Restore, and RioBroker Delete.
These actions provide integration with SpectraLogic’s RioBroker API to perform archive/restore/delete of media assets, with support for PFR (partial file restore) if the BlackPearl deployment has this feature available.
The configuration of the Move and Copy actions have been updated to accept a storage resource directly in addition to a folder resource. This simplifies configuration and gives the administrator full control over the destination storage location when compared to a folder resource.
Starting with Flex 2020.11.0, roles defined in a parent account can be shared with child accounts. In a scenario where Flex is used in a multi-tenanted mode, roles created in the root account can be made available to all tenant accounts in the system reducing the amount of configuration required to onboard a new account.
A new class of user account known as Service Accounts has been introduced. Service accounts can be granted a role and used to execute workflows and actions on behalf of normal users. This improves security as users of the system can now perform their tasks with a smaller set of permissions.
